Justin is a dorky kid, growing up in Mason City. The boy who daydreams about becoming a superhero, does just that, when a dying alien gives him this crazy dope armor suit!

— Narrator, "Alloy"

Justin Case[4], also known as Alloy, is a character from the Alloy series. He is a young boy who protects Mason City against the corrupt company of SumoCorp using an alien suit of armor[5].

Background[]

Justin Case was a boy growing up in Mason City, who dreamed of becoming a superhero. One day, while running away from a group of bullies, he tripped over a dying alien. The alien's body disintegrated, leaving behind his robotic suit, which transformed into two arm bracelets. As the bullies approached Justin, he attempted to transform by slamming the bracelets together. However, the bracelets were unresponsive due to Justin's lack of knowledge on how to use them, causing the bullies to attack him. Sometime later, Justin was able to configure the bracelets to transform into a metal suit[6]. While wearing the suit, Justin's body can transform into different weapons and morph into a motorbike. Prior to his death, the alien's suit was confiscated by the conglomerate SumoCorp, led by their leader, SumoSam[7]. The group attempted to extract information about the otherworldly technology from the suit, though the alien managed to break into the company and take his suit back. With Justin now in possession of the suit, SumoCorp intends to reveal Alloy's secret identity while sending out their robotic creations against him. Justin, however, uses his new superhuman abilities to protect Mason City and its civilians from SumoCorp's evil plans.

Alloy was to be the protagonist of an Alloy video game for the Game Boy Advance, though the game was cancelled. In the game's opening cutscene, Justin Case watches a news report that CyberPitz are attacking Mason City after a truck containing them was overturned. In addition, a group of outlaws called Da Hood Ratz are taking advantage of the chaos, stealing items from stores. Justin transforms into Alloy and sets out the stop both groups.[8] Alloy would also be featured in the 2004 video game, Alloy: Arena, an endless beat 'em up where Alloy fights Hood Ratz and CyberPitz.

Alloy/Character Interactions

Mason's Bubble Blast 2[]

Alloy appears as an assist character in Mason's Bubble Blast 2. During boss fights, enemies attempt to drop projectile attacks on Mason. Items occasionally appear when the projectiles explode, including one shaped like Alloy's head. Touching it will summon Alloy at Mason's side, helping him by shooting at the boss with his machine gun.

Newgrounds Rumble[]

Alloy appears as a playable character in Newgrounds Rumble. Overall, his attacks are fast and his Gun pickup covers a wide range, however, his attacks are short-ranged and he has below-average health. His attacks and animations are references to or inspired by Alloy: Arena. In addition, he is the only character in the roster who has a hidden attack. If the player pressed the quick and fierce attack buttons while crouching, Alloy will attack by turning his hands into scythes and slashing them forward.

In his story, he continues his journey of guarding Newgrounds, he comes across P-Bot, a moderator who wants to increase his power by taking Alloy's suit. To prevent P-Bot from becoming a dictator, Alloy defeats him. The second part of his story pits him against Samurai Asshole, who is recklessly causing damage in Newgrounds. His third story has him find Tankman being attacked by Piconjo and Salad Fingers. He rushes to Tankman's side to assist him. In his final battle, Alloy discovers Alien Hominid, and hopes to find information about his suit. In the end, it turns out that the Alien had no connection to his suit. Alloy decides that it isn't important where the suit came from; using the suit to protect the innocent is what matters to him.

Unofficial Crossovers[]

  • Alloy appears as a playable character for M.U.G.E.N, a freeware fighting game engine. The Alloy M.U.G.E.N character was programmed by RyouWin, who had contacted MindChamber, the creator of Alloy, to develop the character.[12] Alloy's sprites for his M.U.G.E.N character were reused from the Alloy video game[13][14]. Alloy is a six-button character. He has six special moves: Machine Gun[15], in which Alloy's arm turn into a machine gun and fires multiple projectiles; Reverse Shot, which can reflect projectiles; Bike Transformation, where Alloy transforms into a motorcycle and charges forward; Cyclone Blade, where Alloy jumps into the air, spinning his arms; Spike Ball Attack, which turns Alloy into a spiked ball, damaging opponents that get close, and NUNCHAKU Attack, in which Alloy swings around glowing green Nunchaku. His Hyper moves include Hiper Machine Gun, where he fires his machine gun 18 times, and Hiper Harpoon Attack, where he fires a harpoon at his opponents, drags them closer to himself, and attacks them with a 32-hit combo with his close-range weaponry. His arcade introduction is the montage of footage for the Alloy pilot, and includes the narration from the original short, as seen in "Alloy". This character was not officially released by M.U.G.E.N's developer, Elecbyte.
  • Alloy appears as an opponent in Friday Night Funkin': Settle into da' Metal, a mod for Friday Night Funkin' created by MindChamber, FinnyT, mixbro, Spadezer, coco199x, Cheemsandfriends, Ne_Eo, XenoCard, and YokuTzen. Alloy is involved with the plot of the mod's story in Week 1 and Week 2. In Week 1, set in an alternate reality of 1990s Crooklyn, Alloy is driving across town, when he comes across Boyfriend and Girlfriend, collapsed by a speaker. Girlfriend, with her inexperience with demon magic, has unintentionally transported themselves into Alloy's universe. Alloy cautiously approaches the two. While he cannot understand Boyfriend, he realizes that they are friendly. After greeting Boyfriend with a handshake, he is challenged by him to a rap battle. While reluctant at first, finds himself getting invested into the song, and after the first rap battle, challenges Alloy again. Even though he loses the second challenge, Alloy enjoys the rap battle, and asks Boyfriend if he can try something different. When Boyfriend agrees, his suit morphs, fully covering his body, and he transforms his arm into an Ice Blaster, freezing Boyfriend solid. Throughout the last song, Alloy fires the Ice Blaster as he sings along with Boyfriend, testing him to try and dodge it. Boyfriend is the victor in the last song, and Alloy congratulates Boyfriend and Girlfriend, shaking both their hands. However, upon grasping Girlfriend's hand, Alloy's hand begins to glow. He explains that his suit detects and absorbs technology when it comes into touch with other beings, which helps him to recognize Girlfriend as a demon and understand why he has never seen her before. With the suit starting to copy Girlfriend's magical abilities, he explains that he comprehends how she takes musical energy from the individuals Boyfriend beats in rap battles. He asks if he can continue shaking Girlfriend's hand to gather the energy because he wants to use these skills to defeat his enemies. Furious, Girlfriend smacks Alloy away. The story continues in Week 2, where Girlfriend's arm transforms into a metallic version of itself. As she places her hand on the speaker, the speaker transforms into a truck. To Alloy's surprise, it drives away with Girlfriend and Boyfriend on top of it. Alloy follows after them and finds them being challenged to a rap battle by Recoil, a robot designed by SumoCorp to defeat him. As Alloy steps in to protect Boyfriend and Girlfriend, Recoil attempts to engage Alloy in a fight. Alloy, however, stops Recoil, and proposes that the two engage in a rap battle, similar to Recoil's encounter with Boyfriend. Ultimately, Recoil is vanquished by Alloy and is confined within an electric forcefield at the conclusion of the song. Alloy apologizes to Boyfriend and Girlfriend for being forceful earlier, and the group exchanges farewells. The mod was not officially released by Friday Night Funkin's developers, The Funkin' Crew Inc.

  1. Alloy: The Unsung Action Figure on Newgrounds.com MindChamber: "Before I go into that though, let me throw down a brief history of how I came up with Alloy. In 95’ I had to create a 10 second animation for a class project. Within the animation a character had to get up from a sitting position, then walk a few steps to the right or left, and then lift up an object. The Idea of making a walk cycle urked me right away, it was so much work, so I thought I’d be slick, and create a character with a unicycle. Hehe, thinking about this now, I realize how lazy we all are when we’re younger."

Now the Company attempts to distance itself from the Recoil Project, and their failed attempt to privatize the city's police with it.. but in secret, they have bigger plans. They set him out to attack Alloy and test his abilities while attempting to further advance Recoils tech, and well as try to reveal Alloy's identity,"

Every thing changed for him when one day Justin decided he was fed up with some bullies at school. Justin sized up his foe and realized he had no chance...... So he ran!! He out ran his adversary and was looking back in triumph when he tripped over something. Upon closer inspection it was an alien in a little metal suit. Amazed Justin slowly attempted to touch the creature when it shot a laser at him ..... Said some foreign words then expired. The alien instantly disintegrated .leaving his metal suit behind like a shell. Then miraculously the suit began to fold unto itself, over and over until it turned into two arm bracelets. By this time the bullies had caught up and were plenty pissed. Justin hastily donned the two bracelets clinked them together and yelled out SHAZAM!! Nothing happened, and poor Justin got his ass kicked that day. But Justin did figure out how to use the bracelets and became ALLOY."
