— Honeyhug, Pit People
|
Honeyhug is a character from the Pit People series. He was a Space Bear who was Honeykiss's best friend, and was accidently killed by Hatty Hattington. Honeyhug's death enraged Honeykiss, who sought revenge against Earth.
Background[]
During the events of BattleBlock Theater, Hatty Hattington and his crew were stranded at the titular theater after a shipwreck. Hatty was kidnapped by the Cat Guards, and forced to wear Furbottom's Hat, a hat that is said to be haunted by the souls of its previous wearers. The Cat Guards chose Hatty to be their leader, and sealed him into the Vault, a large room in the theater where Gems are stored. The other crewmates were forced to partake in death-defying productions within the theater. The hat has caused Hatty to fall into a comatose state, and days of his inaction after being assigned as leader has angered the Cat Guards, so they plan to kill him. The crewmates, guided by the game's narrator, break into the Vault, free Hatty and escape the theater on their ship, however, Hatty is still in an unconscious state. His body falls overboard, and sinks to the bottom of the ocean. The hat lands on Hatty's head, causing his body to glow green and shake violently. A green laser fires from the hat, erupting from the ocean and into outer space, vaporizing Honeyhug. BattleBlock Theater's narrator comments that "It all makes sense now.", but does not elaborate.
Character Interactions[]
Hatty Hattington[]
While the two never interacted directly, Hatty was the cause of Honeyhug's death. As the laser from Furbottom's hat shot from Hatty's body, it hit and killed Honeyhug, setting in motion the events of Pit People.
Pit People[]
Honeyhug's story is continued in the video game Pit People, which turns to the point of view of a man named Horatio. BattleBlock Theater's narrator also returns, later revealing himself to be Honeykiss. Honeykiss attacks the earth, kidnapping Horatio's son Hansel in the process. In an effort to stop Honeykiss's rampage and rescue his son, Horatio bands together a group of warriors to fight against Honeykiss's forces.
The final battle takes place on Honeykiss's body, with Horatio and his allies attempting to destroy the energy generators on Honeykiss's chest to distract him and save Hansel. They discover a bomb by the second generator that goes off, turning Honeykiss's attention to the heroes. He accosts them for attacking him, justifying his destruction by saying that while he never killed anyone, those on Earth have. Honeykiss has a flashback, showing that he and Honeyhug were best friends.[1] The two were telling that they love each other when Honeyhug was suddenly killed by a laser. This event is what caused Honeykiss to attack earth. Enraged by the memory, Honeykiss grabs Hatty out of the ocean, using the laser as a sword to destroy the world and kill Horatio's allies. Honeykiss comes out of his breakdown and sorrowfully gives Hansel back to Horatio, and disappears into outer space. Horatio is approached by the Speckled Horse, who has the ability to grand wishes. Horatio wishes to go back in time and prevent Honeykiss's attack from happening. His wish is granted, and he gathers Hansel and his allies into a nearby city before Honeykiss can cause harm to them. Honeykiss sulks that his revenge was stopped, and questions why his desires didn't come true when the Speckled Horse appears in front of him. After a transition, it is shown that Honeykiss wished Honeyhug back to life. Honeyhug is expressionless as Honeykiss celebrates his return.
Outside of the story, Honeyhug's dead body appears on the worldmap.
