Honeykiss is a character from the Pit People series. Originally introduced as BattleBlock Theater's narrator, he is a Space Bear who attacks Earth after the death of his best friend, Honeyhug.
Background[]
Honeykiss made his first appearance as the unseen narrator of Battleblock Theater. While his true identity is not revealed, the narrator tells the story of Hatty Hattington, explaining how he and his friends were on a journey when their ship got wrecked in a storm, leaving them stranded on Battleblock Theater. Upon awakening, one crewmember, Mom, is guided by the narrator into the theater by following footprints that lead there, believing that they must belong to their friends. Inside the theater, Mom finds Hatty being restrained by Cat Guards, who place a hat on his head. At first, the narrator assumes that Hatty has made new friends who are giving him a gift. However, when Hatty's body begins to glow and levitate, the narrator realizes that they are hostile, and advises Mom to stay hide behind a statue. Unfortunately, Hatty notices Mom, and destroys the statue with his newly acquired powers, causing Mom to be captured by the Cat Guards. They force Mom to partake in dangerous theater performances. As the guards lead Mom around the prison, the Narrator wonders aloud what the theater is for. Despite the narrator's encouragement for Mom to find their friends and escape, he questions why Hatty would betray them, believing that the hat Hatty was wearing caused him to act differently.
Mom frees their friends, who are also forced to join in the performances. Their production has drawn a large crowd, which the narrator congratulates them on. The narrator explains that the Cat Guards use the money earned from the performances to install more hazards and traps to hinder the prisoners' progress. In addition, he comments on Hatty's current state, noticing to how he stays in a room all day, watching the prisoners perform. The narrator deduces that Hatty has been forced to be in change of the theater, due to the scarcity of humans on their island. This has led to the cats taking advantage of the ship wreck and capturing Hatty and his crew. The narrator inquires about the origins of the Cat Guards, and asks how long they been living within BattleBlock Theater. He implores the crew to uncover the mystery behind the theater, and to endure the cats' grueling challenges.
The crewmates' performances has drawn a large crowd at BattleBlock Theater. While praising Mom's determination to save their friends, he warns them to be cautious around the Cat Guards, and tells them the history of the theater. The theater was built during the 1700s by Purrham Furbottom, a cat lover and theater enthusiast. Furbottom's dream was to create the grandest theater of all time. The BattleBlock Theater quickly rose to become one of the highest rated performance venues. However, one night, Furbottom died during a performance; Furbottom disliked intermissions and forbade them in the theater. He tried to watch the theatrics uninterrupted, and ignored his need to use the bathroom. He died from straining not to soil himself during the performance. After his death, Furbottom's hat was given to the newest leader of BattleBlock Theater for decades. The Narrator speculates about the origins of the hat and discusses rumors surrounding it: Some believe it was cursed by a witch doctor, while others believe it was a cursed object found by Furbottom in a cave. The Narrator believes that the hat is haunted by the spirits of its previous owners, who are lamenting over their failures and are arguing over their differing opinions. In addition, the hat can only be worn by a person who carry it's ideal values. The person wearing the hat is expected to be a benevolent leader, but the hat's mysterious powers has rendered Hatty in an unconscious state. His inaction has made the cats feel unappreciated for their work in the theater. Knowing that Hatty is in danger, the Narrator pushes Mom to persevere through the Cat Guards' challenges and rescue Hatty.
The Narrator pities Mom as the Cat Guards continue to put them through more difficult challenges. Their attempts to save Hatty and entertain the theater's audience have failed, and instead created more obstacles for them to overcome. He is also aware of how angry the Cat Guards are at Hatty for not leading them properly. Despite the hurdles created by the Cat Guards, the Narrator does not allow Mom to give up.
Before the final battle, the Narrator reiterates Mom's resolve to save Hatty, telling them to do it as quickly as possible due the the Cat Guards' unstable natures. He leads the crewmates to the Vault, where Hatty is being held, and explains that it needs a key to be unlocked. Warning them of the Vault's danger, he urges the group to take action and save Hatty. He warns the crewmates of the Cat Guards, who are determined to kill Hatty and appoint a new leader.
Mom enters the Vault, and is congratulated by the narrator. He tells Mom to take Hatty and leave immediately. Hatty, however, remains motionless, slumping to the ground as when Mom takes his hand. The Narrator is concerned with how Hatty is acting, and tells Mom to carry Hatty on their back. Mom and the rest of the Crewmates flee to the S. S. Friendship. As they are being chased by the Cat Guards, some Crewmates shoot and kill the remaining pursuers before they safely leave the island. Aboard the ship, the crew celebrates their victory. However, Hatty still does not move or react to the other crewmembers. The Narrator solemnly observes his state and sings a song about how despite their best efforts, the crew couldn't restore Hatty to his previous condition. Suddenly, the narrator's attitude changes. Ignoring Hatty, he sings a carefree song as the rest of the crewmates throw a party. Hatty's body falls into the ocean, and as he sinks to the bottom, the hat lands on his head and begins begins to glow. The Narrator repeatedly cries out "No!" as it fires a laser upward, shooting out of the ocean and into outer space. A bear is shown floating in space, when it is vaporized by the beam. As the scene fades to black, the Narrator claims to understand the context of the bear being killed.

Pit People[]
The story is continued in the video game Pit People, in which the point of view is turned to a man named Horatio. BattleBlock Theater's narrator also returns, but is more callous than before. The game's prologue takes place after the bear was killed by the laser shot by Hatty.
The bear's body falls onto Earth, with his blood devastating the planet. A man named Jerkimedes sends a group of Child Eaters to attack Horatio's farm. In order to protect his son, Hansel, he orders him into the house, but he is seemingly crushed by the narrator's giant bear paw. Once he wards off the Child Eaters, Horatio travels to King Papastrella's castle for shelter. When he arrives, he discovers that the castle is being ransacked by the Helmetites. Pipistrella, the king's daughter, requests for help in fighting the invaders. Horatio and Pipistrella try to fight off the enemy forces, but their attempts to protect the castle are in vain, as it is reduced to rubble. The Helmetites' leader, Helmitor, requests help in withdrawing from the castle, so the narrator provides a spaceship for the Helmetites to escape.
Due to the destruction of their homes, Horatio and Pipistrella are forced to travel to the nearest city. In order to earn money, they decide to compete in a local fighting tournament, The Pit, and enlist the help of a Demi-Clops named Yosef. When the three win the tournament, a civilian requests assistance in ridding the town of members of a cult who are harassing the residents at the beach. As Horatio's group approaches the beach, they see a girl being kidnapped for a sacrifice. The leader, Eddy, drives away with the girl and orders his henchman to attack Horatio. In the middle of battle, an explorer named Sofia crashes her ship onto beach, killing the rest of the goons, and joins Horatio's group, thinking that they are guides to the land.
As the heroes try to cross a bridge, bandits ambush them. Sofia notices that Gluten, a sentient Cupcake, is being held by the bandits. After killing the bandits, Gluten is freed and joins the group. As Horatio's party has grown, they plan a counterattack on Helmitor, attacking his fortress. Helmitor's forces dwindle in battle, and he tries to organize his remaining army on board his spaceship, but the heroes follow him. When he is defeated, the ship is suddenly grabbed by the giant bear claw. The narrator reveals himself to be a bear named Honeykiss, and that he has Hansel captured. Honeykiss throws the spaceship hurling back to earth. Although Horatio is determined to return to space and save Hansel, he does not know how. Josef believes that his second eye, which has magical powers, will help him locate Hansel. The group sets off for Bloodbath Lagoon, where Josef's friend lives, to retrieve the eye. Their ticket to Bloodbath Lagoon, however, is stolen by Jerkimedes. He offers to give the ticket back if they murder the residents of a Cupcake retirement home. When they come across the retirement home, the player has the option of attacking the residents or not. Jerkimedes will still give the ticket regardless of whether the group does the task, and teleport away.
The group enters Bloodbath Lagoon, a fighting arena centered around naval battles for the entertainment of a creature named Chog. Yosef's friend is a parasite Demi-Clops named Uvulor, who is living inside Chog. As Horatio and his allies engage in battle, Eddy arrives on their ship, planning to sacrifice the kidnapped girl to Chog. Remembering Horatio at the beach, he stops and attacks the group. After killing them, they focus their attention on Chog, attacking him to drive Uvulor out. The group defeats Uvulor, and Yosef stores him in his mouth. Yosef leads the group to the Rainbow Bridge, but Jerkimedes appears, using his magic to make the bridge disappear, and will only restore the bridge if the heroes to give him an orphan. The heroes travel to an orphanage, but all they find are monsters up for adoption, who attack when they learn that the heroes were trying to adopt a human child. After the fight, an adult orphan enters from the orphanage, desperate for loving parents. Depending on the player's choice, the orphan can either be adopted by a new family or given to Jerkimedes, who will kill the orphan for being too old. Regardless, Jerkimedes will send goons after Horatio's party for not accomplishing his task. In the midst of the fight, Jerkimedes will appear again, having heard that they had defeated the monster orphans. Impressed at their apparent cruelty, he gives them a puppy person and teleports to leave. As he's leaving, one of Horatio's party members calls back to say the Rainbow Bridge is still missing. Jerkimedes will not use rainbow magic while being watched, and requests that they meet his henchman at the city. His Jerk Trooper confirms that the bridge is restored at the meeting, and the party sets off for Mt. Olympus, where Yosef's second eye is located.
At the gates of Mt. Olympus, Yosef sneaks into the facility, using Uvulor to bypass the retina scan. Sneaking by the security system and guards, he breaks into the building's vault and grabs his second eye. Yosef's allies catch up to him, but set off the alarm that summons guards. They quickly grab the parachutes from the guards when they realize they are in the building's hanger, but the opening is sealed by a giant guard. Defeating him to unseal the hole, the group parachutes into a nearby city. As they are descending, Yosef's second eye shows that Jerkimedes is relaxing at Sunnybutts Day Spa. Horatio and his allies sneak into the spa, in an attempt to force Jerkimedes to help them get to Hansel. As punishment for letting Horatio enter the spa, Jerkimedes kills his henchmen using his magic. In his attempt to attack Horatio with his magic, he runs out of mana. Horatio and his allies use this as an opportunity to attack, which leaves Jerkimedes in a weakened state. He teleports to the Jerkdome, with the heroes following him. At the Jerkdome, Jerkimedes summons his minions to help him fight. When weakened, he teleports to an area protected by a magical barrier. The group destroys parts of the Jerkdome, causing the ceiling to crumble and destroy the base's floor. A part of the ceiling falls on Jerkimedes and knocks his crown off. Reverting back to his original personality, Jerkimedes reveals that the hat he wore changed his attitude. He explains that the Jerkdome is a spaceship, and offers it to Horatio to travel to outer space.
The Jerkdome launches into space, crashing onto Honeykiss. The group plans on getting Honeykiss's attention by destroying the star-shaped energy generators on his chest. While the villagers living on Honeykiss's body attempt to stop them, the heroes destroy the first star. When they try to destroy the second star, they accidently hit a bomb buried within his fur. Honeykiss screams in pain as it goes off, and glares at the heroes. He reveals that he is angry at the humans as Hatty's laser fired from Earth killed his best friend, Honeyhug. As he remembers when Honeyhug was killed, Honeykiss, in a rage, grabs Hatty Hattington, using the laser emitting from his body as sword to destroy planets and kill Horatio's friends. Honeykiss comes to his senses after his emotional breakdown, and gives Hansel back to Horatio. He sets the two on an asteroid before he fades into outer space.
As Horatio and Hansel drift through space, they are approached by the Speckled Horse, a giraffe who has the power to grant wishes. He states that since Horatio freed him, he will give Horatio anything he wants. Horatio wishes to go back in time to undo the destruction caused by Honeykiss, so the Speckled Horse transports Horatio and Hansel back to the events during the beginning of the game. As Jerkimedes and the Child Eaters come to the farm, Horatio and Hansel flee to Papastrella's castle. Horatio explains that Papastrella and Pipistrella are in danger of being attacked by the Helmetites. Pipistella senses that they can trust Horatio, so she and her father travel alongside them. Horatio comes across Gluten, convincing him to not meet with Bridgeside Bandit and to join their group. Horatio and his friends safely enter the city, ultimately preventing Honeykiss's actions. Honeykiss sarcastically congratulates the heroes for accomplishing their goal, and asks "What about my dream?". The Speckled Horse is shown floating towards him and the screen turns to black. It then cuts to Honeyhug, who was brought back to life, staring blank-faced as Honeykiss dances happily in the background.
He was voiced by Will Stamper, who previously voiced the Narrator in BattleBlock Theater.
