The King is a character from the Castle Crashers series. He is the ruler of Home Castle, the caretaker of the four princesses, and protector of the Crystal. When the Evil Wizard kidnaps the Princesses and steals the Crystal, the King commands the knights to rescue them.

Background[]

During a party, Home Castle is attacked by the Evil Wizard. Many Grey Knights are killed trying to protect the King. The King is shown quivering in fear as the Evil Wizard approaches his throne, though he is spared and the Crystal is stolen. The King orders the Knights to follow the Evil Wizard, who leaves the castle and kidnaps the Princesses. The Knights journey brings them to the Rapids Ride, where they were attacked by the Catfish. The King and his Knights appear on a armored boat to assist them in battle. When the Knights arrive to Tall Grass Field, the King can be seen pacing back and forth. The Knights proceed through the field and enter Pipistrello's Cave, home to a giant hostile bat named Pipistrello. After defeating him, the King leads the rest of the Knights through the cave. The King leads the Knights through Flowery Field to begin a siege on Cyclops' Fortress to rescue the Green Princess. After the Player defeats the Evil Wizard, a party is held in celebration at Home Castle. The King escorts the Orange Princess to the Knights to congratulate them with a kiss.

Character Interactions[]

Hatty Hattington[]

In BattleBlock Theater, all playable characters are referred to as "prisoners". The game's story mode shows that these prisoners are friends of Hatty Hattington, and they embarked on a journey on Hatty's ship. Their voyage ended abruptly when the ship got caught in a storm, and crashed onto BattleBlock Theater. The residents of the theater, the Cat Guards, capture Hatty and his friends, brainwashing Hatty to be their leader and forcing the crewmates to become actors in their dangerous theater plays. As The King appears as a playable character, this means that Hatty befriended him prior to the game's events. The King works with the other crewmates to escape BattleBlock Theater and rescue Hatty.

BattleBlock Theater[]

The King makes a cameo appearance in BattleBlock Theater. A Head based on the King was downloadable content on 12/12/2014 until 12/19/2014.[2]It was released again in 2015.[3]. Like the other Prisoners, he was a fellow crewmate and friend of Hatty Hattington. He was captured by the Cat Guards and was forced to entertain them in the BattleBlock Theater.

They are used as currency in the game. Their value depends on their color, with green gems being equal to 9 coins. In BattleBlock Theater, one of the functions for Gems is the in-game currency, though they only have one color, green.
