Sonic Cat-Sonic Cat is a professional wrestler in "Ring Dream" and "Wrestle Angels Survivor": Hailing from the Andromeda Galaxy, Sonic Cat stands for justice, love, courage and peace. Despite her cute way of speaking and her diminutive size of 1.57m, she’s a powerful force to be reckoned with, her signature-technique is the devastating Sonic Bomb – after all, she´s already the third generation in her family to take up wrestling! Sometimes Sonic Cat also forms a tag team with her Brazilian best friend Diana Lyall.
And Sonic Cat has one more important goal in life: She really, really wants to win the big prize-money in the country-wide eating-contest – for a small girl, she has quite an appetite.
Outside the ring, Sonic Cat is a girl called Mika Yuki, is born on September 13. and doesn’t actually live in the Andromeda Galaxy, but in Sagamihara City in Kanagawa prefecture, not too far away from Tokyo. She likes wearing bunny-pajamas at home, loves all kinds of plush-animals, reads manga for girls and her room looks like something out of a fairytale! Not something one would expect from her energetic ringside-persona!
Uzuki Senba-Uzuku Senba first appeared in 2004, starring in the Japan-exclusive visual novel "Akai Ito" (english: Red String) on PlayStation 2.
For her age of 17 years, Uzuki shoulders a heavy burden. Following her family‘s tradition, she dedicated her whole life to the hunt for oni and other supernatural creatures. In battle, she relies on her masterful use of Ito, an old samurai-sword in a golden scabbard. Uzuki is absolutely staunch in her battle against the supernatural. For her, there is no compromise, she harbors a deep personal hatred for all the monsters and the undead... even if these don´t actually have any bad intentions at all!
Needless to say, Uzuki‘s everyday life suffers under that kind of pressure. To her, there is nothing more important than her duty as an oni-hunter. Missing entire days of school is not unusual for her.
Still, the polite young lady with blue eyes, a perfect posture and flowing black har has another side to her: When she meets a young woman called Kei Hato, the daughter of her mother‘s best friend, at the train-station of a small town called Hemizuka, her oni-hunting world is suddenly turned upside down.
Dozel-Not every participant in "Umihara Kawase Bazooka!" hails from video games, one of them is taken right out of real life. Or rather… right out of YouTube?
With a name inspired by a character from the classic anime "Mobile Suit Gundam", Dozle started his YouTube-career in 2014. After visiting Oita Tomei High School, he went to Oita University School of Medicine. However, medicine was not really his calling. He got pretty deep into the mobile-game "Clash of Clans", often teaching is clan-members how to properly play the game. At the same time, a friend asked him to film his wedding and edit the video… and by combining his love for games and his new experience in film-editing, he took to YouTube and started an illustrious career where he also commentated in many professional e-sports-leagues.
In 2018, Dozle announced he was married and despite some hiccups and channel-changes, he´s a pretty big number in the Japanese YouTube-scene.
But it’s still a mystery how exactly he got involved in the wild battles of "Umihara Kawase Bazooka!"...
Marin-Marin, a girl with shiny blue hair, is often found fishing on the riverbank of her hometown. In "Doki Doki Poyatchio", Marin is 13 years old and quite the tomboy, she addresses herself usually with male pronouns and because of her boyish looks, she could be mistaken for a man; if push comes to shove, Marin can hold her ground against any of the neighborhood-boys.
She’s good friends with Lina and Lily, two other girls from her town. She´s pretty popular in general, probably because she easily becomes friends with almost anybody. But Marin does have hear weakness, one of them is studying – there’s just too much things, she’d rather do.
Another touchy subject is of a more personal nature… Marin is quite insecure when it comes to the size of her chest, for which she is often made fun of by her friend Lily. In the end the two of them created the name “Small Bust Sisters” for themselves and spend a lot of time together.
Luffee-Luffee is a young girl, diligently training her magical skills – a beginner-wizard, one could say. She always dreamed about flying through the air on a magic broomstick and is very focused on getting accepted into the Royal Magic Academy to hone and improve her already considerable skills. But until then, she’s training under her grandmother Filia, who is a great magician herself.
Luffee wears a giant ribbon on her head, has a surprisingly female figure for her young age and always shows a happy, upbeat personality, even if she doesn’t always feel like it.
She loves her dad dearly, even though he only rarely is able to visit her back home, since he’s the respected Captain of an airship… and since her mother died years ago and her father is often gone for long periods of time, Luffee tries hard to hide her loneliness deep inside.
Piaa-Piaa is a pretty independent 14-years-old young woman with a posh style of talking. She often comes across rather condescending to others, which makes her a bit tough for to get along with – at least initially.
Of course, Piaa also has a softer side that she just often refuses to show. She is very obsessed with old magical artifacts and considers herself the rival to Luffee, even though Piaa’s magical skills are stronger than Luffee’s!
Piaa is often found alone exploring some underground dungeons or old ruins. Fun fact: Piaa is the only heroine of "Doki Doki Poyatchio" to have made an appearance in the west before! She is a free downloadable character in the 2D-fighting-game "Blade Strangers", where she fought many characters from various games, among them even our beloved Kawase herself! When fighting, Piaa relies on her strong magic skills and enters the arena wearing a surprisingly revealing outfit...!
Appli-Appli, the greedy, redhaired witch always on the search for sweets, is certainly not the easiest person to be friends with, and nobody would agree more to this than Appli ke Pumpkin who wavers somewhere between friend and rival to Cotton.
Just like Cotton, Appli is a witch: she rides a broomstick and wears a talking hat called Needle. But apart from being a witch, Appli is also royalty! In fact, Appli is the princess of the Pumpkin Kingdom, even if it’s sometimes a little hard to tell.
Appli and Cotton meet for the first time in the Japan-exclusive "Cotton 2" for Sega Saturn and Arcade, where Appli is the second playable character. Cotton and her fairy-companion Silk crash into Appli and Needle who are on the run after stealing the valuable Bluewater Willow. Too bad, that Appli dropped the valuable piece of candy into the woods below – so now both Cotton and Appli are after the Bluewater Willow: Appli, because the Willow can grant her a wish and Cotton… well… because she wants to eat it.
Needless to say, their rivalry-friendship is off to a wild start.
Cotton-Cotton, full name Natta de Cotton, is a witch from somewhere in good, old Germany.
However, Cotton is not your everyday fairy-tale kind of witch! Cotton isn’t old or ugly and Cotton certainly doesn’t eat little kids for dinner. Instead, the short, young redhead dressed in a blue gown only cares about one thing in the world: Tasty, sweet, succulent willows.
Cotton will do anything to get her grubby little hands on her favorite kind of candy! If necessary, Cotton will ride her broom and unleash her powerful magic spells on all sorts of dangerous, yet oddly cute creatures and critters just to get some willows into her gluttonous stomach.
That singular fixation makes Cotton pretty gullible, just ask her little fairy-companion Silk: After all, she got Cotton to save her whole fairy-kingdom from an invading army of monsters by promising her the biggest, best willow in the world!
If she isn’t zapping monsters or hunting for willows, Cotton is rather friendly – just try not to get between her and her candy!
She was last seen together with Kawase in the platformer "Umihara Kawase Fresh!"
